Salvia sclarea v. turkestanica - Clary Sage
An absolutely beautiful biennial (flowering in second year) that then becomes a short-lived perennial (2-3 years approx) that forms a basal rosette of grey-green strongly scented foliage. Tall stems of pale mauve flowers with a white lip are produced over a long period of time from late Spring. Cut back soon after flowering to prolong the life of the crown or leave to set seed for new plants. A wonderful focal point in any garden, thriving in full sun and well-drained soil, including poor soils. Tolerates drought. 90x60cm approximately.
