Dianthus monspessulanus
This is an incredibly beautiful rare treasure that is a must have. It forms mats of grass-like foliage, topped with gloriously perfumed pale lavender or pink flowers over a long period in Summer. The fragrance wafts for quite a distance so is wonderful planted near the house or at the front of a border/in a rockery. Trim back after flowering to encourage new growth. It's a good idea to take cuttings/divide the plant every two years to maintain vigour. Full sun, well-drained soil. 30cm (when in flower) x 25cm approximately.
